The Quinte Fishing Series Story
The Quinte Fishing Series was formed in 1994 as a not-for-profit organization by six (6) local anglers and fishing enthusiasts who saw tremendous potential in the fishery and sought to bring a quality Tournament Series to the Quinte area. At the time, Belleville resident Peter Thompson was appointed Tournament Director for the Series and the format and criteria was established.
In 1997, Peter brought Mercury on board as a sponsor. Mercury has been a strong supporter since. Peter passed away from Leukemia in 2012 and a longtime volunteer of the QFS Richard Somerville took over as tournament director. In the same year,
Brad Pound joined the committee as the Weigh Master, and Mark Sullivan joined the team as the MC of the Quinte Fishing Series. In 2023 Brad Pound, Mark Sullivan and Richard Barrett became the directors for the Quinte Fishing Series and they are currently running it today.
The Quinte Fishing Series is committed to quality tournament series while maintaining a strong commitment to a healthy fishery in the Bay of Quinte.
